Osart Gallery was established in 2008 by Andrea Sirio Ortolani. From the outset, it has carved out its own path, with special emphasis on the most significant artistic experiences of the 1960s and 1970s. It has showcased the leading figures of Conceptual Art and explored the artistic languages of Body Art, Kinetic Art and photography, without neglecting, however, to consider painting from the second half of the 20th century.
Osart has forged important bonds with numerous artists, both Italian and foreign, including Vincenzo Agnetti, Amelia Etlinger, Piero Fogliati, Ruth Ann Fredenthal, Claudio Olivieri, Winston Roeth and Phil Sims. A gallery in search of new talents from the start, it was able to grasp early on the importance, later confirmed by international success, of artists such as Titus Kaphar, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye and Hayv Kahraman, already exhibited by Osart in 2009-2010.
The gallery is currently engaged in an in-depth exploration of the emerging African scene, which began with the group exhibitions African Textures (2019-2020), with works by Marlene Steyn, Jeanne Gaigher and Kresiah Mukwazhi, and African Characters (2020), with works by Kate Gottgens, Kudzanai-Violet Hwami, Neo Matloga, Richard Mudariki and Gareth Nyandoro. Today, it alternates between solo and group exhibitions featuring both the great artists of the Second Avant-Garde and emerging artists on the international scene.
