This beautiful complex stands south of the city and its foundation dates back to the 14th century. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inside this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.certosadifirenze.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charming monastery<\/a>, there are works by prestigious Florentine artists: it is impossible not to mention the sixty-six medallions by Giovanni della Robbia, found in the Main Cloister or, inside the crypt, the Chapel of St.Tobias attributed to Orcagna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"441\" src=\"https:\/\/italics.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/C-Mgelormino-1024x441.jpg\" alt=\"Florence Charterhouse\" class=\"wp-image-8380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/italics.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/C-Mgelormino-1024x441.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/italics.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/C-Mgelormino-300x129.jpg 300w, https:\/\/italics.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/C-Mgelormino-150x65.jpg 150w, https:\/\/italics.art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/C-Mgelormino-768x331.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Main Cloister with sixty-six medallions by Giovanni della Robbia, Florence Charterhouse. Photo: Mgelormino <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Other works have been moved to the great Florentine museums, including Beato Angelico\u2019s <em>Maest\u00e0<\/em>, now in the Museum of San Marco, or Pontormo\u2019s <em>Supper at Emmaus<\/em>, now in the Uffizi but originally designed for the refectory of the monastery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Carthusian monastery was Pontormo&#8217;s favorite place, where he found refuge during the plague of 1523.
