T293 was founded in 2002 in an ancient building in the heart of the historical center of Naples, on Via dei Tribunali 293. The gallery has always been keenly aware of the latest trends in art, both experimental and conceptually relevant to the contemporary dialogue. Initially, the space was conceived to support up-and-coming artists, but in 2006, T293 changed its organizational structure. It became a commercial gallery under the management of Paola Guadagnino and Marco Altavilla. With the new organization, new goals were set, broadening the gallery’s view toward a more open approach to the global scene and a bolder curatorial strategy.
In 2010, with the firm intention of respecting its origins while maintaining its international status, T293 decided to open its headquarters in Rome. The intention was to become a point of reference in both the national and international contemporary art sectors.
With the aim of actively helping to develop contemporary art and visual culture through different generations of artists, T293 always presents what it deems to be excellence in the art sector. This is achieved not only through its extremely varied series of exhibitions, but also by actively supporting projects and publications that serve as catalysts in developing new ways of seeing and contextualizing contemporary art.
