During the 59th International Art Exhibition, the Venice Biennale, the new edition of Panorama Monopoli was presented in the Abbey of San Giorgio Maggiore.
The presentation was attended by Abbot Stefano Visintin, representing the Benedictine community of the Abbey of San Giorgio – who hosted us in the beautiful Sala del Conclave, the monastery’s choir stalls for night prayers – , the President of the Italics Consortium, Lorenzo Fiaschi (Galleria Continua); Valentina Rossi (Galleria Carlo Orsi), representing the Italics Board of Directors; Vincenzo de Bellis (Associate Director and Curator of Visual Arts at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis), Curator of the second edition of Panorama Monopoli.

We are also very proud to have received two important commendations at national and international level for the work undertaken to date by our Consortium from the Italian Ministry of Culture, with the endorsement of Onofrio Cutaia, Director-General of Contemporary Creativity and from Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO.
During the presentation, special visits were arranged to see the Deposition of Christ in the Sepulchre(1592-94) by Jacopo Tintoretto and Saint George Killing the Dragon (1516) by Vittore Carpaccio, led by art historian Alessandro Martoni, Scientific Director of the Art Collections of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini and Lecturer at the Università Internazionale dell’Arte di Venezia.

We would like to thank the Municipality of Monopoli for the support shown to us with the presence of the Mayor of Monopoli Angelo Annese and Pietro D’Amico, Manager of the Organizational Area, General Affairs and Local Development of the Municipality di Monopoli.
Refreshments at the end of the presentation were kindly provided by Cipriani Food, a Friend of Italics.
